Who we protect

Our field teams are based in Jayapura and Wamena in Papua, and Jakarta.

Papua

The Indonesia Project (IP) continues to solidify its presence in this province. As well as providing its Participatory Peace Education programme, the project also currently provides protective services to:

  • KontraS Papua (Komisi untuk Orang Hilang dan Korban Tindak Kekerasan, Commission for Disappearances and Victims of Violence).
  • PBHI (Perhimpunan Bantuan dan Hak Asasi Manusia Indonesia, Indonesian Legal Aid and Human Rights Association).
  • LP3BH: (Yayasan Lembaga Penelitian, Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Bantuan Hukum, The Institute for Analyzing, Investigation and Development of Legal Aid).
  • SKP: (Sekretariat Keadilan dan Perdamaian Keuskupan Jayapura, Office for Justice and Peace of the Catholic Diocese in Jayapura).

Jakarta

In Java the PBI provides protective services to:

  • WALHI (Friends of the Earth Indonesia)
  • PBHI (Perhimpunan Bantuan dan Hak Asasi Manusia Indonesia, Indonesian Legal Aid and Human Rights Association)
  • Suciwati Munir, widow of Munir Said Thalib, one of the country’s former leading human rights campaigners, who has been engaged in a relentless pursuit of justice since her husband’s murder on September 7, 2004
