Parachute for PBI - Questions and answersImagine standing in the doorway of a small plane flying above a distant patchwork of fields and only the noise of the engine and the wind singing in your ears. Now feel yourself falling out of the doorway into the clouds, diving down through the air as you free-fall at over 120 mph. Suddenly you are enveloped in an amazing sense of peacefulness as the canopy opens and you begin a tranquil descent to the ground. Imagine being able to do this for FREE while being harnessed to a professional instructor and at the same time being able to help the vital work of Peace Brigades International! What exactly does a Tandem Skydive involve?Having been fully briefed you will climb to a height of 10,000 feet. At this height you will exit the aircraft and free-fall for about 40 seconds down to 5,000 feet where the instructor will open the parachute. Once the parachute is open it takes five minutes to descend to the ground. The parachute you share with the instructor has dual controls which means you both steer it down to a tip-toe landing. You will get a certificate to prove that you have completed a two-mile high Tandem Skydive! Is it dangerous? Not at all. You are securely attached to a professional instructor by a harness. He opens the parachute and has complete control. You receive all necessary training before the skydive. The jump and training will be completed in one day. How can I raise £360?Raising £360 (or more!) for Peace Brigades International is easier than it sounds. Simply ask your friends and colleagues to sponsor you, using our own sponsorship forms which we supply you with. Please do not be put off by this amount. It may sound a lot, but believe me, by asking everyone you know, you will find it easier than you think. And remember, every penny you raise over the minimum will be further contributing to Peace Brigades International and giving you the chance to make an exhilarating skydive for FREE. When do I have to pay the sponsorship money? You will have to pay the amount of the jump on the day of your jump, but your sponsorship money is not due until four weeks after you have completed your jump. Remember as long as you raise the minimum sponsorship money level for your jump (£360) you can recover both the cost of the booking deposit and the jump from your sponsorship money which means you get to jump for free! How much money does PBI receive?Part of the money raised will pay for the tuition and jump costs (between £160 and £180). Everything raised above this amount goes directly to PBI. If you raise £39.95 above £360, you will be reimbursed your booking deposit (£39.95) meaning that you jump for FREE. What do I do next?Email us your address. I will then send you a sponsorship form and a reservation form and you can start collecting sponsors straight away. |
